Charles Mwangi

Senior Vice President & Chief Financial Officer

Charles Mwangi was appointed Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for Cepheid in July 2023.
 
Charles returned to Cepheid after having led the Finance and IT organizations as SVP and CFO from 2018 to 2021 when he provided leadership in the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic, enabling the organization to meet the unprecedented demand for our respiratory tests. Charles first joined Cepheid in 2016 as the VP, Financial Planning and Analysis.
 
Since leaving Cepheid in 2021, Charles held Finance leadership positions as SVP and CFO of Western Digital’s Flash Division and CFO at Freenome an early-stage company developing diagnostic tests for early detection of cancer and other diseases through blood biopsies.
 
Prior to his first tenure at Cepheid, Charles held Finance leadership roles at various companies including Lam Research, Broadcom (Avago Technologies), Affymetrix, and Intel. 
 
Charles holds an MSc in Applied Economics and Statistics from California State University, an MBA in Finance from Alliant International University, and a BS in Civil Engineering from University of Nairobi.
